Do not let others question your path, it is for your steps alone
Obtaining one’s goals does not teach us the lessons of life. It is the level of persistence towards that goal and the depth of our commitment that shape us. It is the journey and not the destination that leaves the impression.
One of Carl Jung’s five pillars for a happy life is:
“Do not fall prey to seeking pure happiness. Instead, seek lifelong progress toward happierness.”
That is, it is working towards happiness that teaches us to be happy.
An athlete can win at the trials and become an Olympian, fulfilling a lifelong goal, but it is the years of progression towards that goal that makes the athlete an Olympian.
